Which brings us to the topic of the moment. Not the topic in the moment, but the topic about the moment. . .for the moment.
I’ll say it again, we exist only now. We exist only in this moment. We exist only in the present. We experience only now. We see only now. We hear only now. We are now here. Or is that nowhere?
Off Every Day did a number about this one, Here and Now. The title sums it up. The interesting thing is that though we intellectually know this, we spend, actually waste, the moment by ignoring it. This moment is all we will ever have.
All the rest is a diversion to drive you insane.
Unless, of course, you’re already there… now…
i agree with the idea, but do you think it’s ok to spend some moments enjoying the past? or planning the future.
That’s no excuse, Insanity.
Well, Hazel, not to judge the situation, ok or not, we all do. Sure it’s ok. It’s the curse of being human. Memory.
Next time you take a walk, or drive, or whatever, observe yourself, and you will realize your thoughts certainly aren’t in the moment.
The sounds around you, the sights, the smells, the hotty across the street (well, ok, that’s an exception), the feel of the ground beneath your feet, the sound of your breathing, your breathing, the sounds, the sounds and did I mention the sounds?
Easy to miss.
Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.
Yeah, good advice from John Lennon to Sean Lennon, good observation, and definitely the same observation as here.
Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making blog entries.
Ah yes, the irony
Did I mention ear plugs? Weird for an auditory freak to mention this, but if you want to get in touch with your inner self, literally and spiritually, wear some really good ear plugs and listen to your body. The sound of blood flowing and of the heart beating and breathing will certainly be more noticeable.
