Nothing Has Meaning

I’ve always wondered.

Economics being a phenomenon that is inexplicable (though that hasn’t stopped anyone) is scientific enough, maybe. Agreed upon mayhem, mass delusion, yet still somehow functions.

But the distance from actual on the ground production and trading of goods is so great when sitting in the corner office looking at the view punching keys and making calls that the question arises.

What does business do?

This question makes me curious enough to want to delve deeper even though obviously the corner office guys are managers and or speculators so the answer seems simple enough. However, there are entire high rise buildings full of these business folks all producing absolutely nothing while pulling down a salary and contributing to the mass delusion that is our economy.

Well this isn’t really a white paper.

In fact, I really shouldn’t have a white paper section cause I am technically very organic which means I am not about to discourse on science and engineering.

But I did want to say a very small bit about petroleum.

Most of us don’t realize that this incredible carbon chain is not dinosaurs but organic matter compressed in the correct conditions and then locked into the correct strata at the correct depth in the correct kind of rocks to become a semi-liquid or liquid greasy black stinky substance that can be made into just about anything.

We just fill up and bitch about the cost and then some of us lament our dependence on “foreign oil”.

The answer is to stop burning petroleum and start finding solutions outside the petro paradigm.

All of us should learn more.
